Rich Harden picked up his first win for the Cubs after allowing one run in seven innings and striking out nine against the Brewers. Harden was 0-1 with a 1.04 ERA in three starts since coming over from the A's. He's struck out 39 in his four NL starts.

Rich Harden must really like pitching in the National League, because he's been awfully good since coming to Chicago. Rich Harden fanned 10 and allowed just one earned run over five innings Saturday, but the Cubs lost in extra innings. Harden issued three walks but only let up two hits. He was pulled after 87 pitches, 53 of which were strikes, and Sean Marshall blew the Cubs' 2-1 lead in the eighth inning. Harden is 0-1 as a Cub, but is sporting a 1.04 ERA and has tallied 10 strikeouts in each of his three starts. He's bound to get a win eventually. We'll see if he can do just that in a crucial game against the Brewers next week.

A truly unfortunate loss for Harden, who took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and absolutely shut down a Diamondbacks lineup in a dazzling 112-pitch effort. Since joining the Cubs, the ace righty has surrendered one earned run on six hits while fanning 20 batters over 12 1/3 innings of work. Clearly, he's a must-start when he next takes the mound, July 26 against the Marlins at Wrigley Field.

Josh Donaldson was sent to Oakland from Chicago as part of the Rich Harden deal.Donaldson was a second round selection in 2007 but has not had a great start to his pro career. He is currently hitting .217 with six homers in 235 at-bats for Single-A Peoria this season after being selected by the Cubs in the second round of the 2007 draft.

Eric Patterson was dealt to the Oakland A's on Tuesday as part of the Rich Harden trade.Patterson had seen 13 games with the Cubs this season but was at Triple-A Iowa at the time of the trade. The A's current second baseman, Mark Ellis, is a free agent at the end of the season, so Patterson could see regular duty there next season. It is also possible he could see action as a September call up this season.
