CBSSports.com reports the Washington Nationals placed 2B Ronnie Belliard (groin) on the 15-day disabled list Friday, Sept. 26.
Nationals placed infielder Ronnie Belliard on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Sept. 15, with a strained groin. Belliard was shut down for the season last week, so the move is merely a formality. Belliard failed to top 350 plate appearances for the first time since 2002, but posted the best offensive numbers of his career at .287/.372/.473 with 11 homers and 46 RBI in 96 games.
News: The Nationals placed 1B Dmitri Young on the 60-day disabled list, retroactive to Sept. 15, with a strained left hip, infielder Ronnie Belliard on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Sept. 15, with a strained groin and catcher Jesus Flores on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Sept. 15, with a sprained left ankle.
Analysis: Belliard has pop and versatility, but his weak glove makes him more of a reserve at this point in his career. He could be headed elsewhere this winter
