The South Florida SunSentinel reports Florida Marlins P prospect Ryan Tucker has been named the organization's Minor League Pitcher of the Year.
Marlins recalled RHP Ryan Tucker from Double-A Carolina. Tucker pitched out of the pen for Carolina after his demotion from the majors in July and was quite effective, amassing a 2.14 ERA in 21 innings. No one should be giving up on him as a starter just yet, but he is one of the possibilities to turn into Florida's long-term closer. He'll be in the pen for the rest of this month.
The Marlins have called up pitcher Ryan Tucker, MLB.com reports.Tucker, 21, had a rough go when he worked for the Marlins in June and July, but he had an excellent year at Double-A and has a future in the bigs. He was converted from a starter to a reliever midway through this season, which obviously limits his long-term fantasy value.
