Astros RP Shawn Chacon had troubles protecting a four-run lead Wednesday against the Diamondbacks and eventually was off the hook for the win when the bullpen blew the game in the sixth inning. Chacon was handed a 6-2 lead after two innings, but left with a 6-5 lead in the fifth. In his shortest outing of the season, Chacon allowed seven hits, five runs and one walk in five innings. He did manage to strike out seven while also allowing a solo home run to Conor Jackson.

Valverde blew Chacon's win and Philadelphia rallied for a 4-3 win. Chacon allowed only four singles. He last pitched eight innings on Sept. 23, 2005, against the Toronto Blue Jays. This time, he struck out five and walked two as he lowered his ERA to 2.25.
