Shawn Chacon has been released by the Astros one day after he was suspended for physically attacking GM Ed Wade, according to the Associated Press. “His defiance of the manager, the pitching coach, me, and especially the organization led us to this decision,” Wade said.Chacon will have a hard time latching on to another team as most organizations aren't too keen on hiring players that physically assault the management. Throw in his less than stellar work on the hill, and we might not see him throwing, scratch that, attempting to throw strikes, any time soon.

According to The Sports Xchange notes: RHP Shawn Chacon, manager Cecil Cooper and pitching coach Dewey Robinson held a 15-minute closed-door meeting Tuesday. Neither Cooper nor Chacon would say what the meeting was about, but Sunday's game was likely topic No. 1. Chacon was visibly upset when Robinson visited the mound in the first inning Sunday in Milwaukee, and the right-hander was pulled from the game after allowing four runs in the first. "It was just a talk," Chacon said. "It was mutual." Cooper didn't divulge details. "No, we just talked," he said. "That's all I'm going to tell you, OK? We had a conversation."
