After suffering from inflammation in his left elbow late last year, he's expected to be ready for Spring Training and will have a chance to win a late-innings relief role.

The Palm Beach Post reports the Florida Marlins optioned RP Taylor Tankersley to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Tankersley began the season with the Marlins, but was sent down after going 0-1 with an 8.64 ERA in his first 24 appearances. However, the 25-year-old southpaw compiled a 1.23 ERA in 21 games on the farm, and hasn't surrendered a run in his last 10 contests. It remains unclear how long Tankersley will remain with the big league club, as he may lose his roster slot when Anibal Sanchez is activated to start on July 31.

The team called up 21-year-old top prospect Christopher Volstad from Double-A Carolina as an adjoining move.The reliever held no fantasy value with the Marlins prior to his demotion, as he allowed 16 earned runs, 21 hits, and eight walks over 16.2 innings.

The team optioned lefty reliever Taylor Tankersley to Triple-A Albuquerque, as the corresponding move.He will initially work out of the bullpen as a reliever, and could join the rotation if he proves to be effective. He is worth taking a shot on in larger NL-only leagues if you have a spot for him.

Taylor Tankersley was called back up on Wednesday after compiling a 1.98 ERA in 13.2 innings in the minors.Tankersley was awful at the start of the season but had a combined 3.46 ERA in 116 appearances over 2006 and 2007. The Marlins need another lefty in their bullpen and are no doubt hoping that Tankersley has returned to form.
