Epstein has remained in contact with Varitek's agent, Scott Boras, but the two parties appear to be worlds apart on contract negotiations. Boras is seeking a deal similar to the four-year $52.4 million deal Jorge Posada signed last winter, the Globe reported.
Nick Cafardo, of The Boston Globe, reports the Texas Rangers are unlikely to trade C Taylor Teagarden in the offseason.
Taylor Teagarden had two more hits on Sunday and he is batting .366 in 41 AB since being called up to the Rangers.Besides the average, Teagarden has also hit six bombs while knocking in 17 runs, so the question is, why isn't he playing on a daily basis since it's not as if Gerald Laird has been tearing it up with a .252 average and just two home runs over his his last 39 games?
In Taylor Teagarden's last start, he hit a home run on the way to driving in five runs. That was four days ago. He is out of the starting lineup again on Friday. In ten starts, Teagarden has blasted six home runs, scored 10 times, and accounted for 17 RBI. It is somewhat of a mystery as to why he is spending so much time on the bench in Texas.
Despite homering and driving in five runs on Monday, Taylor Teagarden is being rested for the fourth straight day on Friday. Bizarre. Teagarden and Gerald Laird were supposed to split time evenly, but Laird has started the last three games over him and neither has been making appearances at DH even with Milton Bradley out. With Teagarden sporting a 1375 OPS, it's almost like the Rangers aren't even trying to win.
None.
