News: Cardinals SP Todd Wellemeyer (11-6) went seven innings and allowed one run and four hits Sunday against the Astros, but couldn't get any run support as he took the loss during a 3-0 win for Houston. Wellemeyer, who struck out four, allowed his only run on a RBI single by Hunter Pence.
Analysis: Wellemeyer should have won for the fourth time in five starts instead of losing his second straight outing. Wellemeyer has not allowed more than four runs in his last eight starts and is starting to look solid on the hill once again. He can be treated as a No. 4 Fantasy SP in mixed leagues. His next scheduled start is for Saturday against the Marlins
A disappointing result but still a fine bounce back performance from Wellemeyer, who was tagged by the Brewers for four earned runs over six frames in a losing effort last time out. Wellemeyer closes out August 3-2 with a 2.58 ERA and is a great option in any format when he toes the rubber next against the Marlins at Dolphin Stadium.
