He gave up two runs on five hits and two walks in six innings, striking out five. He didn't factor in the decision, though, as the Braves road struggles continued.

Glavine pitches well, but Braves lose

Braves SP Tom Glavine, who left his last start after six innings because of a sore knee, got hit hard Sunday against the Diamondbacks. He gave up six runs and five hits while walking six in 4 2/3 innings. He recorded two strikeouts and lost for the second time. Lately, Glavine has alternated good and bad starts, posting a 1.78 ERA during the four good ones and a 10.80 ERA during the four bad ones.

Glavine pitches Braves past Mets

Tom Glavine pitched 5 2/3 effective innings to earn his first win for Atlanta in six years and the Braves held on for an 8-6 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night. Chipper Jones, Yunel Escobar and Kelly Johnson each hit solo home runs and Brian McCann drove in three runs to support Glavine (1-1), who hadn't won a game with the Braves since beating the Phillies on Sept. 19, 2002. Glavine (1-1) allowed four runs and four hits. He took a one-hitter into the sixth before the Phillies cut an 8-0 deficit in half. The major blow came on a Chase Utley two-run homer that capped the four-run barrage. Glavine was done after walking Pat Burrell with two outs. He walked two and struck out four.
