News: The Pirates activated LHPs Phil Dumatrait and Tom Gorzelanny from the 60-day DL.
Analysis: Gorzelanny went 6-9 with a 6.66 ERA in 21 starts. The 26-year-old, who led Pittsburgh with a 14-10 record in 2007, struggled throughout most of his season, which included a stint at Triple-A Indianapolis. He was nothing more than a NL-only Fantasy starting pitcher when healthy, so that is how he has to be viewed going into next season

Both left-handers are expected to be ready when Spring Training opens, though neither is guaranteed a rotation spot.

Pirates left-handed starter Tom Gorzelanny will begin throwing at the end of the month, as he rehabs from a strained ligament in the middle finger of his throwing hand, according to Pirates.com.Gorzelanny was an epic disappointment to fantasy owners last year, with an ominous ERA of 6.66 and more walks than strikeouts in 105.1 big league innings.

Status: D.L.. Out for the season
Pirates placed LHP Tom Gorzelanny on the 60-day disabled list. Gorzelanny was shut down for the season with a finger injury two weeks ago and the move clears a 40-man roster spot for first-round pick Pedro Alvarez.
