Travis Buck finished the season strong as he registered 11 hits in his final 23 at-bats, according to the SF Chronicle. He also blasted seven home runs over his last 21 games.He has spent most of the season in Triple-A, but is now back in the Athletics' outfield plans for 2009.

Buck finished the season on an absolute roll, posting five straight multi-hit efforts that pushed his batting average over the Mendoza Line. His season-ending .226 average is far from stellar, but his .367 mark in September shows that the 24-year-old could be a decent AL option next season if he receives a full-time role.

After starting the season 0-for-21, Buck has emerged in September, batting .333 with three homers and 10 RBI in 39 at-bats. He should be very much in the mix for a starting job next spring.

Travis Buck delivered an RBI single in the top of the 11th to lift the A's to a 4-3 win over the Rangers on Monday night. Cliff Pennington had led off the inning with a double before Buck's single -- his only hit of the game -- drove him in with the go-ahead run. The A's had led 3-2 entering the ninth inning but Brad Ziegler gave up a rare homer to tie the game.

Three of Buck's four blasts have come in the last 10 games, but he hasn't done too much else in limited action this year. The sophomore right fielder is batting .185 with 16 RBIs and 31 strikeouts in 119 at-bats for the big league club. He hit .296 in 45 contests with Triple-A Sacramento.

Gonzalez was named the co-postseason MVP along with OF Chris Denorfia, who batted .486 with four homers. Gonzalez, Denorfia and OF Travis Buck will all be recalled when Sacramento's season ends; the River Cats play Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for the Triple-A title Tuesday night. Sacramento has won four PCL titles in six years.
