Astros.MLB.com's Alyson Footer reports Houston Astros RP Wesley Wright will continue his path as a reliever instead of as a starter after a good rookie season. The left-hander struggled against right-handers, though, as righties hit .361 against him. His ERA was 6.10 while facing righties, too.
News: Wesley Wright (4-3) went two scoreless innings Tuesday and Jose Valverde worked the 11th for his 39th save, ending a game that took 4 hours, 17 minutes.
Analysis: Wright has decent long-term potential, but he is nothing more than a low-end middle reliever for the deepest of NL-only leagues that use true middle men down the stretch
News: Houston LHP Wesley Wright gave up a three-run homer in the eighth inning Thursday. Wright hadn't allowed a run in his previous 12 outings, notes The Sports Xchange.
Analysis: Wright is the team's situational lefty. He is not in line to supplant Jose Valverde as the team's closer. Wright remains just a Fantasy middle reliever for NL-only leagues
Astros RP Wesley Wright returned from a minor finger injury to pitch Wednesday against the Phillies. Wright was impressive as he pitched a scoreless eighth inning and struck out the side. "It's exciting, man," Wright said. "When I got the call that I was coming in the game, I was thinking, 'Just do whatever you need to do to keep us in the game.' After a tough loss last night, I knew I had to come in and try to keep it right there. Our teammates and Roy (Oswalt) fought all night. I was just trying to come in and be aggressive and kind of force the action. That's really what I wanted to do. I was able to get ahead and throw my off-speed pitches."
