Bloomquist's versatility and speed could make him attractive to National League clubs, which use their bench more than American League teams. Cairo also showed versatility, playing seven positions, although most of his playing time (70 games) came at first base.

Jim Street, of MLB.com, reports Seattle Mariners OF Willie Bloomquist (hamstring) returned to his home Wednesday, Sept. 10, to recover from a strained right hamstring. He will remain in Arizona and continue his rehab at the team's Spring Training facilities.

The Sports Network reports the Seattle Mariners transferred OF Willie Bloomquist (hamstring) to the 60-day disabled list Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Mariners transferred infielder-outfielder Willie Bloomquist from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list. This officially ends his season. Bloomquist a free agent at season's end and appears rather unlikely to stay with the Mariners next year.
