All three players would help the Reds fill some needs. They are in need of a leadoff hitter, a catcher and most importantly, a right-handed hitter with power and run production ability. The arrival of Atkins would likely push Edwin Encarnacion, Cincinnati's current third baseman, into the outfield.

John Fay, of The Cincinnati Enquirer, reports the Cincinnati Reds are interested in acquiring Colorado Rockies OF Willy Taveras, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.
The Reds are showing interest in Willy Taveras, Yorvit Torrealba and Garrett Atkins from the Rockies, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal. Atkins is a long shot for them, but Rosenthal thinks they could acquire Taveras and Torrealba in the same deal. The Rockies wouldn't ask for much in return for either player. On the off chance that the Reds acquired Atkins, it would likely be with the idea of moving Edwin Encarnacion to left field.Source: FOXSports.com Related: Yorvit Torrealba, Garrett Atkins, Edwin Encarnacion, Red Sox
The Chicago Tribune reports that the White Sox are interested in Willy Taveras. The Rockies are said to be shopping the speedy center fielder and the newspaper speculates that the White Sox might offer up pitching prospect Lance Broadway for him. Ken Griffey Jr. is a free agent, general manager Ken Williams has made it clear that he no longer views Nick Swisher as a center field option and the team seems to have soured dramatically on Jerry Owens, so it makes sense that they're pursue Taveras.Source: Chicago Tribune Related: Lance Broadway, White Sox
