The Braves believe that if Escobar can avoid the injuries that plagued him during the second half, he has the potential to be one of the game's top young shortstops. Still, nothing on his Minor League resume suggests All-Star-caliber numbers here. Incremental growth is more likely.

Braves.MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports Atlanta Braves SS Yunel Escobar (hamstring) has been out the past 10 days with a strained right hamstring. The Braves have provided no indication that he'll be available for anything more than pinch-hit duties during the season's final four games.
