Yunel Escobar did not play on Saturday after hitting into three double plays, as he was simply given a night off to rest, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.Escobar has been a decent player this season, but his fantasy impact has been minimal outside of NL-only leagues.

The Associated Press' Charles Odum reports Atlanta Braves SS Yunel Escobar (elbow) has a swollen elbow after being hit by a pitch Thursday, Aug. 14, according to Braves manager Bobby Cox.

Escobar recorded his third straight two-hit game and is batting .270 with four doubles, five runs scored and nine RBIs in 37 at-bats in August. The 25-year-old shortstop is hitting .281 with six homers, 56 runs scored, 49 RBIs and two steals in 405 at-bats this season.

Escobar's been very productive of late, lacing three doubles with seven RBIs while hitting safely in five of his last six contests. Owners should keep their fingers crossed that the 25-year-old infielder's recent success forebodes a turnaround in August, as he finished an injury-riddled July with a dismal .230 clip in 74 at-bats.

Though he is only hitting .263 (5-for-19) over his last five games, Escobar has made his hits count by driving in seven runs in that span. The versatile 25-year-old is now hitting .234 (15-for-64) with six doubles and 12 RBIs since the break.

News: Braves SS Yunel Escobar recorded one of the team's two RBI Wednesday in a 3-2 loss to the Giants on a RBI groundout in the fifth. He was hitless in four at-bats. Escobar has five RBI in six August games.

Analysis: Escobar is slowly getting back on track at the plate after dealing with a shoulder injury in July. He has hit safely in 11 of his last 14 games. He has eight RBI in that span. It's been a shaky stretch for Escobar, who compiled a paltry .230 average in July and owned a .188 clip in 16 August at-bats entering Tuesday's affair. The 25-year-old shortstop is clearly a better hitter than his recent rut would suggest, as he sported a much more attractive .296 mark over the season's first three months. Keep an eye out to see if he's able to turn things around as the summer progresses.

Maybe this can get Escobar going, as the talented infielder entered the contest hitting just .227 with five RBIs since the All-Star break. Sunday's double marked Escobar's 16th two-bagger of the year.
