The Associated Press reports Atlanta Braves SS Yunel Escobar hit his eighth homer Sunday, Aug. 31. He hit his three-run shot from the fifth spot in the order. He had been primarily hitting in the first or second spot most of the season.
News: Braves SS Yunel Escobar homered and had his 22nd double in four at-bats Sunday against the Nationals. Escobar's eighth homer restored the Braves' lead in the fourth. Martin Prado walked, Omar Infante singled and Escobar crushed Collin Balester's 1-0 pitch into the left-field seats. It was his first homer since Aug. 21.
Analysis: Infante had just three RBI in his previous 18 games coming into Sunday. He has been very quiet at the plate in the last few weeks and really hasn't been the same Fantasy producer he was earlier in the season. If he didn't qualify at so many positions, he wouldn't have nearly as much Fantasy value as he currently does. Think of him as a low-end middle infielder
Escobar desperately needed a game like this, as he entered the contest hitless over his previous 12 at-bats and mired in a 1-for-19 slump. Sunday's blast gives him eight homers for the year to go with 55 RBIs and a .282 average.
