One bright spot in an otherwise down year for Cincinnati, Volquez went from 'the pitcher Texas traded for Josh Hamilton' to a fantasy ace by season's end. Can he keep it up? Maybe, but be advised: Hitters will make him work much harder at throwing strikes next year. Harnessing his sometimes faltering control will go a long way toward determining whether Volquez can sustain this level of success.
