Ian Kinsler : September 5th, 2008, 3:20 pm est
News: Texas Rangers All-Star second baseman Ian Kinsler will have season-ending surgery to repair a sports hernia. A first-time All-Star this year, Kinsler hit .319 with 18 homers, 71 RBI, 41 doubles and 26 steals in 121 games.
Analysis: Kinsler last played Aug. 17, and an MRI the following day revealed the injury. He was hopeful of avoiding surgery and possibly playing again this season, but he remains sore and the Rangers said Friday he will have surgery next week. It's now officially safe to cut ties with the Fantasy stud, who will likely be selected in the first few rounds in all leagues next season due to the success he had this year. His numbers, for a middle infielder, are elite. Joaquin Arias has been starting in his place of late and is possibly as suitable a replacement option as there is off the waiver wire in most leagues. Arias is leading off for the Rangers and hits for decent average without any of the power
