Justin Duchscherer : October 1st, 2008, 3:05 pm est
It appears Duchscherer will return in time for Spring Training, after wrapping up a breakthrough season in which he became Oakland's ace, going 10-8 with a 2.54 ERA in 22 starts. 'Everything went well,' wrote Duchscherer. 'I just had some torn cartilage cleaned out. I'll be fine in two months.' Duchscherer, who turns 31 next month, is arbitration-eligible this winter and was hoping to earn a multiyear deal from the A's by staying healthy all season. 'That's what makes this so frustrating,' he said on Sept. 20. 'I wanted to prove they could count on me.' It was Duchscherer's first season in the rotation, and it may take until the halfway point in 2009 before his arm adjusts to the wear and tear.
