Mike Adams : October 16th, 2008, 1:25 pm est
Mike Adams will miss the start of the 2009 regular season after being told he will need to undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum and damage to his rotator cuff, according to the Padres Official Website. 'We won't know until we get in there,' Adams said of the damage that could be found. 'It's the same with the rotator cuff. But they won't expect the rotator cuff to be anything too bad, maybe just some clean up.'Adams had the sixth best ERA amongst NL relievers who hurled at least 50 innings with a 2.48 mark and racked up an impressive 10.19 K/9 mark in 65.1 innings. He could be back by May, that is unless the extent of the injuries are more severe than initial tests led the team to believe they are.
