Mike Napoli : October 6th, 2008, 1:00 am est
Mike Napoli hit two homers and scored the go-ahead run in the 12th inning as the Angels staved off elimination by beating the Red Sox 5-4 on Sunday. One would never know that Napoli had a 960 OPS this season from the way Chip Caray and Buck Martinez talked about him, but maybe this will clue them in. Napoli took Josh Beckett deep twice, driving in three runs. The game stayed scoreless for six innings after the fifth, but Napoli, after barely escaping a called strike three, started off the top of the 12th with a single, advanced on a sac bunt and came around to score on Erick Aybar's first hit in 14 at-bats. The Angels will send John Lackey to the mound at Fenway as they try to even up the series in Monday's Game 4. Jon Lester will start for Boston. It will be a rematch of Game 1, which the Red Sox won 4-1.
