The 35-year-old Howry took a major step backwards this past season with a 5.35 ERA. Pitching home games at the cavernous AT&T Park should yield better results than at Wrigley Field. Still, unless something happens to closer Brian Wilson, chances are he won't amount to anything more than your garden-variety middle reliever.
