News: According to The Sports Xchange notes: 2B Tadahito Iguchi was one of two starting second basemen in the major leagues who hadn't committed an error when he suffered a separated shoulder June 5 at Petco Park against the Mets. In his second start back, Iguchi made a throwing error that paved the way to the decisive run in the Mets' 6-5 win Tuesday. Iguchi is also struggling at the plate. Since returning, albeit earlier than expected, Iguchi is 0-for-9. In the seventh inning Tuesday, the Padres had the tying runners on first and second with no one out when Iguchi grounded into a double play.

Analysis: Iguchi could lose at-bats to Edgar V. Gonzalez if he keeps this up. Consider the veteran Iguchi nothing more than a NL-only option -- a low-end one -- at this point
