Tom Glavine : August 26th, 2008, 11:35 pm est
The Associated Press' George Henry reports Atlanta Braves SP Tom Glavine (elbow) said he is undecided about whether he'll pitch in 2009. Glavine, speaking on Tuesday, Aug. 26, said he only has a little soreness after undergoing season-ending elbow surgery last week. His plan is to first see how his recovery goes before making any decisions. We've got a good five weeks here for me to rehab and get a good sense of how I'm recovering and what it looks like, said Glavine. Then I think we will all have a better idea. Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery, which consisted of cleaning out scar tissue and sewing together a tiny gap that had formed in his tendon. Glavine's left flexor tendon had not moved away from the bone, as the team had originally thought. No bone spurs were found in the elbow. Finally, Andrews also checked out Glavine's left shoulder and verified there was no damage to the rotator cuff, just minor scraping in the rotator cuff and labrum. Glavine will be performing range-of-motion and passive-resistance exercises for his elbow and shoulder.
