Tom Krasovic, of The San Diego Union-Tribune, reports San Diego Padres chief executive officer Sandy Alderson is offering to speak with free-agent CL Trevor Hoffman (Padres) and his agent, Rick Thurman. Hoffman and his agent have not responded to Alderson's request. 'I've offered to talk to Trevor to try to give him some idea of not only where we are, but where we were and why we withdrew the offer when we did,' Alderson said. 'But there aren't any ongoing negotiations and I'm not sure what is going on in the free-agent market and don't know whether there will be further negotiations with us or not.'
